This publication sets out some of the major activities of the European Economic and Social Committee during the period of the Cyprus Presidency from July to December 2012.“We are interdependent and stronger when we join forces and act together. That is why, as EESC President, I am looking forward to cooperating with the forthcoming Cyprus Presidency. I agree with Demetris Christofias, President of the Republic of Cyprus, that “the recent crisis has taught us all that constant awareness and protection of vulnerable economies is required, especially with regard to the interests of ordinary European citizens”. In order to put Europe on a sustainable path, we need to focus on making Europe more competitive in the long run, and on protecting the most vulnerable."
