Design of an integrated spatial information system for multiobjective land-use planning
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the development of an integrated decision support system that will permit planners to address the multiobjective nature of the site-screening process. This decision support system will consist of three distinct decisionmaking technologies: a geographical information system (GIS); a rule-based system (RBS); and a multiobjective programming model (MPM) that will be linked together in the form of an integrated spatial information system (ISIS). The result is expected to be a powerful, flexible and interactive decision support system that will assist in the effective planning and management of land resources.
