Determinants of Information Communication Technology Adoption on Supply Chain Performance in Manufacturing Sector in Kenya

The main aim of the paper was to assess the determinants of ICT adoption on supply chain performance with Bamburi Cement Kenya Limited as the case study. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. Due to the homogeneity of the target population, a simple random sampling technique was used to select 80 respondents. Questionnaires were the major instrument for data collection. Data collected was analyzed by use of the SPSS software Version 23 for both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results from the analysis indicated that top management support and buyer/supplier integration have a positive and significant effect on supply chain performance. It is recommended for the top management to have a high level of commitment to the use of ICT in the supply chain. Also, it is important for manufacturing firms to make use of IT to send tender specifications to suppliers and ensure that there is an electronic interaction with international and local new suppliers. Finally, there is a need for manufacturing firms to capitalize on ICT as it has the potential to reduce the cost incurred while sending information and during transportation
