Developing High Performance Work System for Visual Merchandising in Retail Outlets

Retail industry of India is in its developing stages. There is lot of competition that is increasing in different sectors of Indian retail. There is increase in organized retail, FDI in Indian retail, internet shopping, etc. is leading to many reforms in the industry. Hence, in this situation it is important for retailers to more creative and innovative in their marketing techniques for store. One way of creatively communicating store to customers is visual display of products and stores both. The term is known as visual merchandising and this technique is at its nascent stage in India. Retailers now are focusing on this technique. But, creating an attractive display is not easy task. Lot of designing, store planning and creative skills is required in the person hired for this task. This study focused to explore skills to be developed that are required in the human resource hired for store visual merchandising which will help enhance store image in customers mind
