Development of new structural materials for advanced fission and fusion reactor systems : book of abstracts, 2nd joint IAEA-EC topical meeting ; 16 - 20 April 2012, JRC Ispra (Italy)

Further to a successful Topical Meeting on "Development of New Structural Materials for Advanced Fission and Fusion Reactor Systems" jointly organised by IAEA and JRC-Institute for Energy and Transport and held in Oct. 2009 at the premises of Fusion for Energy in Barcelona, the 2nd Joint IAEA-EC Topical Meeting on the same subject took place on 16 - 20 April 2012 at the JRC in Ispra, Italy. The Topical Meeting has again provided a well received platform for detailed presentations, technical discussions and exchange of results in the specific areas of relevance to materials performance assessment and qualification for advanced fission on the one hand, and thermo-nuclear fusion systems on the other hand. In fact, the Topical Meeting has achieved its objective to gather experts from both scientific communities, in order to develop synergies between the fields of research. Following keen demand for participation, the Topical Meeting was limited to 65 international delegates from 20 countries, with the strongest participation from the USA, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, and The Netherlands. The present report contains the collection of abstracts of the papers presented, while full size papers will be published as a Themed Issue of Journal of Nuclear Materials.
