Development of Austrian Agriculture up to 2013
With milestone agricultural policy parameters determined in the second half of 2005, it is possible to forecast the sector's development up to 2014-15. The steep decline in the production of key agricultural goods observed in Austria since 1995 should level off since prices are expected to remain stable in nominal terms. Over the next decade, beef and cereal production should experience a slight dip. The acreage of arable land will be reduced and grassland expanded. If assumptions that farm subsidies from EU and national budgets will remain mostly untouched should come true, average per-capita incomes are expected to remain stable in real terms, always providing that the pace of structural change will continue as before.
