Ecological and human health risk assessment : focussing on complex chemical risk assessment and the identification of highest risk conditions

The aim of the 1st open NoMiracle workshop "Ecological and Human Health Risk Assessment: Focussing on complex chemical risk assessment and the identification of highest risk conditions" was to discuss criteria for the selection of risk scenarios, mapping and visualizing risk, and communicating it to the general public, decision makers and scholars in other disciplines. Discussion sessions allowed non-project participants to present experiences and research related to the workshop topics, which include: - Scenario screening to support risk assessment - Geographical risk mapping - Communication of methods to users: presentation of experiences in mapping of human health risks - Highlighting the potential implications for application of the precautionary principle. During the workshop, a series of communications by the project participants illustrated the main topics and introduced discussion among the participants. The outcomes of the discussion are summarised at the beginning of the volume, followed by an extended summary of the contributions thereby presented.
