Einsatzpotentiale von Cognitive Computing zur Unterstützung der Entscheidungsfindung im Supply Chain Management

Decisions in supply chain management involve a rising and ever changing amount of information. Supply chain professionals are facing increasing requirements on their decision making capabilities in an environment of high complexity. Enterprises are looking towards innovative technologies in order to support decision making. Especially developments in the area of cognitive computing are considered to improve decision making processes. This study aims at identifying possible improvements of supply chain decision making processes by cognitive computing. Theoretical background on cognitive computing and supply chain management is presented at the beginning of the study. Cognitive computing systems can be characterized by their ability to learn and adapt to a changing environment. Cognitive systems interact with the user in an intuitive manner and support human decision making by developing recommendations on best actions. The decision making support of cognitive systems is considered as very useful in highly data intensive and dynamic environments such as supply chain management. [...]
