Electric microfield calculations: An all-order resummation of the Baranger-Mozer series
The calculation of the ionic microfield in a plasma is investigated within the framework of Baranger-Mozer (BM) theory which uses an Ursell-Mayer cluster expansion of the Fourier transform S(k) of the field distribution. A property of S(k) at large k, in the case of a one-component plasma, is first established. This property is then used to approximate the high-order correlation functions, allowing the resummation of the BM series. Comparison of the numerical results with OCP Monte Carlo data indicates a significant improvement on standard second-order BM calculations.
