Empowering and Enabling Teachers to Improve Quality and Equity in Higher Education

Open and constructive exchange on effective teacher policies and practices are the need of the hour. There is lot of debate and discussion around at government circles and teacher organisations regarding need for high-performing and rapidly improving college and university systems, as certified by recent reports of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). This paper tries to address the following questions:1. What do teachers need in terms of professional learning and development, now and in the future, to support their work?2. What can governments and teacher organisations do to ensure the most appropriate national structures and policy environments are in place to support this?3. What should be the modus operandi in striving for Sustainable Excellence & Equity in Learning?4.
