Energy Consumption of Two-Stage System of Biomass Pyrolysis and Bio-Oil Reforming to Recover Waste Heat from Granulated Bf Slag

The energy consumption of two-stage system of biomass pyrolysis recovery low temperature heat and bio-oil reforming recovery high temperature heat from granulated BF (blast furnace) slag was investigated. The results indicated that the two-stage system recovery waste heat from BF slag required less materials than traditional physical method. The maximal exergy efficient of traditional physical method was 0.33. However, the maximal exergy efficient of the two-stage system was up to 0.68 at reforming agent temperature of 100℃ and CO2 concentration of 100%. The quality of recovery waste heat from BF slag was promoted via the two-stage system. On account of syngas energy from biomass and granulated BF slag, the maximal energy efficient of syngas obtained from biomass via the two-stage system was higher than 1 in the industrial application. Besides, the exergy efficient of the two-stage system was almost unchanged under different temperature and CO2 concentration of flue gas. But the higher temperature and CO2 concentration of flue gas, the higher chemical energy, physical energy of physical syngas, chemical exergy and physical exergy of physical syngas were obtained, demonstrating that high temperature and CO2 concentration of flue gas could be applied to industry to prove the performance of two-stage system
