Ensuring harmony in the workplace : The issues faced by managers in creating a “level playing field”
Purpose – The article examines the effects of backlash in the workplace. Design/methodology/approach – The author discusses a number of causes and effects of backlash, presents the results of a survey conducted by a large Canadian financial institution and then offers a number of ways to deal with backlash. Findings – There is no doubt that backlash exists in many organizations. If left uncontrolled this can have a very negative impact on the workplace. Originality/value – Examines an important, but still under researched topic.
