ERA open to the world EU R&I strategy responding to globalisation

The paper presents a number of issues linked to the parallel developments of ERA and globalisation and the opening the European Research and Innovation strategy to the world. The paper indicates that the common global societal challenges as well as emerging disruptive economic changes make international cooperation an increasingly important dimension not only for science but also for innovation, sectoral policies and foreign affairs. It brings to the attention of the readers and policymakers the importance of Global Innovation Networks developing alongside Global Value Chains, the complex issues linked to the global expansion of European startups and the importance of openness and accessibility of global research cooperation, especially in view of cooperation for Science Diplomacy.
