EU civil protection : summary

The Special Eurobarometer survey on EU-coordinated civil protection aims to gauge the awareness of citizens and their attitudes to EU activities in this area. The survey was conducted between 5 September and 16 October 2023 and builds upon previous Eurobarometer surveys on EU civil protection conducted in 2015, 2016 and 2020. This report examines the following: awareness and perceived importance of the EU's activities related to coordinated response to disasters; attitudes to the provision of support to EU and non-EU countries in response to disasters; disaster risk awareness and perceptions of preparedness for natural hazards; perceived priorities in disaster and crisis preparedness and response; trust in sources of information about EU civil protection.
