European research on atmospheric composition : synthesis results of EC clusters of projects within the environment programme of the Fifth Framework Programme, 1999-2003

The report provides an overview of the main results of the research in the field of atmospheric composition change related to the key action on global change, climate and biodiversity of the EC's fifth framework programme on environment and sustainable development 1999-2003, first phase. The projects were grouped into five clusters : - ozone budget ; - sources of pollutants ; - oxidation processes ; - aerosols ; - chemistry/climate interactions. Results are essentially limited to the first four clusters, because projects dealing with chemistry/climate interactions started only one year ago, under the second phase.
