Experimental Methodology in Economics and Philosophy. A Bibliometric Perspective

Experimental Economics and Experimental Philosophy - A Bibliometric Analysis The purpose of this paper is to show how experimentation tools have driven research in two important fields of social sciences, namely economics and philosophy, over the last twenty years to provide a more thorough examination of the ways in which human behaviour explains economic and philosophical rationality. To that end, the method of this study involves two stages: we used the VOS viewer to develop co-occurrence and co-authorship analysis and Leximancer software to develop conceptual maps. Our bibliometric analysis considered 1938 papers on experimental economics written throughout the last three decades and 922 papers written on experimental philosophy over a similar period. The results showed that experimentation in economics focused on green or ecological economics, game theory, finance, and marginal analysis. In philosophy, the research was focused on methodology, epistemology, and empirical philosophy; most cited papers were related to altruism and beliefs and their relationship to psychology and economics
