Exploring BPR as an Enabler for Enterprise Resource Planning

The primary objective of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is to help integrate an organization's business operations and processes effectively and efficiently. Enterprise resource planning systems have a broad functional scope promising to support many different business processes.The enterprise resource planning system is an integrated set of programs that provides support for core organizational activities such as manufacturing and logistics, finance and accounting, sales and marketing, and human resources. An ERP system helps the different parts of the organization share data and knowledge, reduce costs, and improve management of business processes. In this paper we show that for having a successful implementation of ERP , first we should have a different view to our organization and redesign old processes, something that is available with the help of business process reengineering. Also by illustrating a conceptual model , the important role of business process reengineering in implementing ERP in the organization will be explored
