Exploring Data Structures Using Probability Plots, Animation and Ternary Plots
Several new graphical methods for use with compositional data and probability plots are developed and illustrated using the software package (Wolfram (1999)). Graphical techniques that permit inferences regarding the distributional properties of the data are presented and illustrated. Procedures for compositional data in the space are examined and expanded to the constrained space for two variables and the space for three variables. Several new conventions are proposed that attempt to circumvent the traditional conditional approach. Examples and illustrations from remote sensing (ice composition), environmental sciences (silt composition) and the food industry have been included
