Exploring the Impact of COVID-19 on Urban Poor in Dhaka City, Bangladesh

This paper defines the potential impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the urban poor in Dhaka city, Bangladesh. According to WHO, the outbreak was first identified in Wuhan city, China, in early December 2019. On January 30, WHO avowed a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, pandemic on March 11. On January 13, officials in Thailand verified the discovery of the first case outside of China. In Bangladesh, the first case of the COVID-19 Coronavirus was detected on 8th Mach 2020. On 22 Mach, lockdown effective from March 26. Dhaka, Bangladesh's capital, is one of the world's most populous cities. Many people live in this city under the poverty line, and the number of middle-income families is enormous—urban poverty embracing this city from a long ago. Many people live their life as day laborers or regular office work. After the government declared lockdown, people could not move out, and those poor were in real trouble. Socio-Economic impact, food, and Nutrition impact, adolescents impact, Educational impacts are described in this paper. Urbanization and existing urban poor condition are also discussed there as it is a severe issue for Bangladesh. Weekly, monthly COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths analysis are shown through different graphics and maps. Where Microsoft Excel and maps prepare, graphs are designed by ArcGIS software. In this paper, numerous data sources are used as Worldometer, Directors General of Health Services (DGHS), Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR)
