Features of Rad Methodology of the Modern Projection of Information Systems

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the RAD methodology of the modern projection of information systems. We focused on the RAD methodology because it provides fast application creation. The principles of RAD methodology were formulated by IBM employee James Martin in 1980 year. They were based on the ideas of Scott Schultz and Barry Boy. The methodology was implemented for the shortest time by small group of developers using incremental prototyping. It allowed on early stage of information's system design to demonstrate the current interactive model of the prototype system to the customer, clarify design decisions, evaluate operational characteristics. The RAD methodology has become the common design scheme of development of information systems. Development facilities based on RAD methodology are very popular by the use of such software environments development: IBM Lotus Domino Designer, Borland Delphi, Borland C Builder, Microsoft Visual Studio, Macromedia Flash and others.RAD methodology can be applied if: budget of the projected information system is limited; requirements for information system is unclear; implementation of information system's project is required; the user interface can be demonstrated in the prototype. We made the conclusion that rapid development of applications by using the RAD methodology is achieved through the use of component-oriented design. However there are some disadvantages of this model: the large team of developers is needed for large information systems; this model is not suitable for using new technologies
