The processing of personal data has received significant attention in the wake of the adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Few EU laws have attracted similar popular and global attention.While the GDPR has directed much-needed attention to the importance of privacy -which includes the protection of personal data - it has at the same time instilled an unhealthy fear in organisations and individuals.
