Geographic Neodeterminism, Spatial Misallocation, and Zipf's Law
The article briefly describes the views of some contemporary Western "neoderminists" regarding the spatial structure of the Russian economy, including that of Siberia. The author offers scientific criticism of the role of the concept of "spatial misallocation" in the development of a geographically determined approach to regional development and discusses the successfulness of attempts to measure the degree of spatial misallocation in Russia using Zipf's law.
