Getting down to the nitty‐gritty of organizational learning

Opines that scholars may have done the business world a disservice by the way they discuss the concept of the learning organization. Suggests building a learning organization is a long‐term project, of which there are three steps: fostering an environment that is conducive to learning; opening up boundaries and stimulating the exchange of ideas; and creating programmes or events with explicit learning goals. Acknowledges that learning organizations take time to build, but encourages managers to get going by taking the first steps towards that goal.
