Global Comprehensive Sustainable Index

The globalization brought series of global indices developed based on critical indicators. There is no central data base to retrieve all global indices, but some research institutes are a good source to get information on this. Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation, University of Warwick compiled more than 250 global indexes . Global indices are a good tool to measure strength and weaknesses of a country on relative basis. A particular index does not provide insight on overall strength or weakness of a nation. It implies therefore that there is need to have global comprehensive index. Most of these indices are developed on economic or social indicators. Very few indices are developed based on environmental performance. This research is an attempt to develop framework for global comprehensive sustainability index based on environmental, social and economic performance of world’s economies. The objective of developing global comprehensive sustainability Index is to improve the lives of people around the world, particularly the bottom of pyramid, by helping government, the private sector and the civil society to collaborate more effectively and make better access and use of the scarce resources to solve economic, social and environmental problems. The index provides competition among the nations and gauges their performance on each of the matrix under environment, social and economic indicators. Land, climate & human are the major critical actors of world history & development.
