Globalization an Issue of Subsidies - a Case Study of Egypt
This paper aims at developing insight about globalization and issues of subsidies with special emphasis on Egyptian market. In Egypt, policies implemented under different regimes led to economic decline and marginalized the poor, but in Egypt, private organizations are providing services - education, job training, health care, and day care - in the face of governmental unwillingness or inability to make these services available as promised. These various efforts are not coordinated, however, by anyone in the political system, but the role of these private organizations can be judged from the people's tranquil reactions to price increases and reduction of subsidies in 1991.
