Grain Crop Production in Ukraine as Significant Element of Global Food Problem Solution
The most significant global problem now is the food one, having appeared against economic turmoil, increase of number of population on the planet, climate changes and unequal distribution of world resources. Overcoming of the global food problem can be only possible by the states' mutual efforts. However, Ukraine, owing to its nature-and-resource potential, can significantly contribute in solving this problem. The analysis of the national grain market today has pointed at a number of problems which hamper the efficient development of home grain industry during the process of globalization. In the Article the volumes of mineral and organic fertilizers introduced for the grain crops during 1990-2011 have been analyzed. It has been found that the share of grain forage in the structure of grain production in Ukraine for the period of 2006 – 2011 exceeded 50 percent. Besides, starting from 2008 the increasing loss of grain during harvesting has been observed in Ukraine. Dynamics of changes in the world stock of grain crops from 1960 to 2010 has been researched. Home grain industry potential has been characterized, realization of which in current conditions of global economy development will significantly enhance competitiveness of Ukraine as of agrarian state in the world food market.
