Green Bonds and Green Credit for Funding Sustainable Utilities in East and Southeast Asia

The study recognizes the critical importance of investigating sustainable utilities financing in light of the looming threat of climate change, examining the impact of green bonds and green credit on sustainable utility investment in 13 East and Southeast Asian economies from 2010 to 2022. The empirical findings reveal that green bonds demonstrate a positive impact, accelerating the promotion of sustainable investment in renewables by 0.72%. To further promote sustainable utilities investment, fostering the development of a digital green finance market, promoting sustainable education, implementing interest rate regulations that favor green projects, and reforming the credit scoring system are recommended
