Guidelines and recommendations for integrating specific profiled steel sheets in the Eurocodes (GRISPE) : final report

The GRISPE project was aimed at providing technical data and calculation methods for specific steel profiles (steel decks, liner trays, corrugated sheeting, curved and assembled profiles, perforated and holed profiles and interlocking planks) which are not or incompletely included in the current version of Eurocode EN 1993-1-3 despite their growing importance for the European steel and construction sectors. The main aims were to carry out a critical review of the state of the art for the selected profiles, to fill in the identified gaps in knowledge, to perform an extensive experimental programme, to develop simple design by calculation methods and incorporate them in practical Excel sheets, and finally to transfer the output from the project and the new knowledge generated to industrial users and to CEN. For all the selected profiles, state of the art reviews have carried out and have concluded to a near complete lack of experimental data and of scientific papers; a substantial amount of experimental data has been acquired and results have been analyzed and detailed calculation methods have been designed and incorporated in Excel sheets. All key results have been independently checked and validated. They have been presented to the industry at an industrial workshop and have been disseminated and made freely available to stakeholders and potential users through a series of standardization briefs. Proposed codification amendments and background have been presented to CEN committees and discussions are ongoing as to their inclusion in Eurocode EN 1993-1-3.
