HIPAA And Its Related Legislation : A New Role For ERISA In The Regulation Of Private Health Care Plans?

This article reviews the history of ERISA regulation of private employer-sponsored health care plans and discusses the changes made by the HIPAA, the MHPA, and the NMHPA. The article concludes that the enactment of the HIPAA and its related legislation foreshadows an expanded role for federal regulation of health care plans sponsored by private employers
