Indicadores dos países da organização para a cooperação e o desenvolvimento econômico e do Brasil

This study analyses ten strategic indicators analyzed by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with the greater purpose of analyzing Brazil's performance compared to OECD member countries. The indicators analyzed were: i) water withdrawals; ii) wastewater treatment; iii) municipal waste; iv) overweight or obese population; v) Foreign Direct Investment Regulatory Restrictiveness Index (FDI RRI); vi) electricity generation; vii) road accident; viii) unemployment rate; ix) exports by business size; and x) imports by business size. Brazil has an adequate performance, comparable to OECD member countries in all indicators evaluated. Furthermore, some methodological weaknesses inherent in the process of evaluating the OECD indicators were highlighted. Such weaknesses pointed out potentially affect the evaluation of Brazil, especially considering its vast territorial extension, with an abundance of natural resources, great population diversity and significant differences between the main regions of the country.
