Indigenous corporate groups in Mexico : high growth and qualitative change in the 1970s to the early 1980s

Mexico's large-scale indigenous corporate groups achieved a remarkable growth in the 1970s and the early 1980s. This paper is an empirical attempt to identify the process of their growth in relation to the surrounding economic environment by focusing on those in the private mining and manufacturing sectors. The significance of the high growth in terms of the historical development of these corporate groups is discussed
