Information management system as an aid to agricultural policy formulation in Africa

Agriculture plays a major role in the economic development of several African countries. The agricultural sector and the food processing delivery system are functioning inefficiently. To alleviate the problem, a comprehensive food and agriculture policy which allows for continuous evaluation and monitoring the results is necessary. Such an effective policy can be better developed if a reliable information system is available. The author reviews the objectives of a useful information system for the agricultural sector. (DÜI-Ott)
