Integrating Bi2wo6 with Ag Doped Cubi2o4 for Carbon Nanotubes Mediated Enhanced Interfacial Charge Transfer and Photocatalytic Activity

To proficiently eliminate organic contaminants from wastewater, photocatalytic heterojunction hybrid CNTs mediated Ag-CuBi 2 O 4 /Bi 2 WO 6 was synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal methodology. The as-prepared nano-materials were characterized through FTIR, SEM, XRD, HR-TEM, UV-Vis DRS, and PL analyses. The photocatalytic degradation activity of as-prepared nanomaterials exposed to simulated sunlight (> 420 nm) was determined by using Rhodamine B as an objective organic pollutant. Degradation results revealed that the fabricated Ag-CuBi 2 O 4 /CNTs/Bi 2 WO 6 semiconductor photocatalyst followed pseudo-first-order kinetics and displayed greatest photocatalytic rate value, which was about 7.1 times greater than the pristine CuBi 2 O 4 and 6.7 times greater than pristine Bi 2 WO 6 semiconductor photocatalyst. After 5 consecutive cycles of Ag-CuBi 2 O 4 /CNTs/Bi 2 WO 6 , the degradation efficiency of Ag-CuBi 2 O 4 /CNTs/Bi 2 WO 6 was found to be 95 %. The increased photocatalytic efficiency is contributed to the uniform dispersion of photo-generated electron-hole pairs via the construction of a Z-scheme system consisting of Bi 2 WO 6 , Ag, CNTs, and CuBi 2 O 4 , with a small portion of intrinsic Ag nanoparticles serving as charge transmission-bridge alongside CNTs. This investigation, in our perspective, highlights the potential for making efficient nanostructured photocatalysts employing bismuth-based metal with CNTs that might resolve environmental issues based on practical considerations
