Intrahousehold labor allocation responses to environmental good scarcity : a case study from the hills of Nepal

The author notes that it has become common knowledge that many parts of the developing world face very serious and determiorating environmental situations. What is not so well known is how degraded environmental conditions affect the lives of those living in their midst. Using data from the Nepal Energy and Nutrition Survey (NE NS 1982-83) she explores the consumption of environmental products and the allocation of time across tasks and household numbers by rural Nepali agricultural households. The author focuses on the allocation of time to environmental good collection. (DÜI-Sen)
