Le rôle de la R&D à vocation militaire et sécuritaire dans le « nouvel objectif stratégique » européen : quelques leçons des États-Unis

Defence firms in the United States are the main recipients of the public R&D spending. The article is an empirical demonstration of the preponderance of military oriented R&D investments for the period 1955-2005. It underscores the high opportunity costs and crowding-out effects of these choices, and draws attention to the lessons that should be learned from the American experience given the institutional developments of the European Union in the field of defence and security.
