Lean mainstream schemes for Stata 8 graphics

The new Stata 8 graphics are powerful and flexible. Now, a few months after the first release, the graphics still have some shortcomings-both in design and in the manual documenting the program-but progress is being made. The graph layout used throughout the Graphics Reference Manual has led some users to underestimate the potential of the program.
