LexisNexis turns the spotlight on innovation : Gardening projects help to stimulate creativity

Purpose – Describes an award‐winning training program that helped to increase innovation at business‐information provider LexisNexis. Design/methodology/approach – Explains the reasons for the training, how it was developed and delivered and the results it has achieved. Findings – Details the innovation equation (insight + ideas + impact=innovation) at the heart of the initiative. Practical implications – Highlights a 290 percent increase in ideas submitted to the LexisNexis innovations database, more than half of which have either been adopted by the company or are under consideration. Social implications – Reveals how gardening projects played an important role in encouraging employee innovation – and brought lasting benefit to the community. Originality/value – Provides plenty to interest any organization seeking to increase innovation among its employees.
