Literacy and Numeracy in the Caribbean: Report of the Caribbean Subregional Meeting

Representatives of 19 ministries of education in the Caribbean joined the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Barbados for the Caribbean Sub-regional Meeting of the Regional Policy Dialogue on Education in December 2008 to highlight several initiatives and best practices from both developed and developing countries, with particular emphasis on the Caribbean experience. A significant number of the lessons we learned came from within the Caribbean region - a reason for optimism. The Barbados meeting and a regional study, of which this volume is one product, were cosponsored by the CDB and IDB.
