Local Government's Support Towards Boy Scouts of the Philippines Local Council in Davao Region, Philippines

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) as the Philippines’s national scout organization imbues the youth, the love of God, country and fellowmen by training the young people to become responsible leaders thereby contributing in nation-building. In this study, the researchers tried to identify how the Local Government Units (LGU) in Davao region help carry out their goals through their financial support. However, the adequacy of their subsidies, facilities and logistics may put at stake since some BSP local councils don’t receive support from the local government. Results revealed that the funds they received from the LGU manifested a deficit of 10%. Subsidies are in congruence to the remuneration received by the employees of the local government but they lack on the development of facilities and logistics like buildings and personnel and youth enhancement. Despite of this, the BSP Local Councils believe that their commitment to train leaders for nation-building remains their focal concern. Failures lie on sustaining partnership and understanding the role of the youth. Thus, the researchers aimed to provide an action plan as basis by the local government units in Davao region to achieve their vision, missions and goals
