Looking at Medicare Advantage: What Has Happened Since the Launch? What Will Happen in the Future?

This report presents findings from Mathematicaâ€™s study of how Medicare Advantage (MA) has evolved over its first three years. It focuses on plan availability and enrollment, benefits and premiums, quality of care, and firmsâ€™ perspectives and decisionmaking. The findings provide evidence of an active MA market that has expanded since 2006. A proliferation of choice reflects a larger set of MA contract types that attract a range of beneficiaries.
