We explore whether experiments in the lab yield the same conclusions as in the field by studying the behavior of the same professionals when playing a simple mixed-strategy game (soccer penalty kicks) in a soccer stadium (the field) and a virtual reality console (the lab), thereby eliminating any potential biases resulting from alien lab designs. Our findings show that their behavior conforms with equilibrium implications in both environments, which suggests that professionals are able to transfer their expertise to the lab when labs mimic real life
