Managing knowledge towards wisdom
The author states we are in the 'age of the mind'. It is therefore critical to master the managing of knowledge in business as in other fields. Several development principles to do this are suggested. First, an extensive education and training program is required (Motorola University provides a role model). Second, creativity, as a vocational skill, can be learned and taught. Third, counter-intuitiveness is valuable, 'going against the crowd' can lead to the essence. Fourth, making recommendations is a valuable way of practising the application of knowledge. Fifth, quality of leadership and quality of thought will lead an institution 'somewhere else'. Finally, values should be truly understood, including cultural variances on values.
