Managing Swedish and Finnish multinational corporations: the role of the board of directors in French and Norwegian subsidiaries
The present paper reports the results of a survey of the use of the subsidiary board of directors (SBs) in French and Norwegian manufacturing units owned by Swedish and Finnish MNCs. In addition to presenting data on the composition of the SBs, and the importance of different roles that SBs may play, the paper analyses a number of hypotheses concerning factors influencing the roles played by SBs. The results of the survey are analysed and discussed, and suggestions are made for future research.
