Measurement of Growth and Instability In Paddy Production In Assam: A District Level Analysis
Analysis of growth and instability, particularly when it is on a regional basis, becomes an asset of the policy-makers in shaping suitable policies for regional development. The study attempts to analyze growth as well as instability of area, production and yield of paddy during pre-green revolution green revolution and post -green revolution period in different districts of Assam. The exercise revealed that during green revolution and post-green revolution period, the said crop made significant progress in growth in production, which was supported by a growth in yield. The instability in yield was more during pre-green revolution and green revolution periods, which has come down in recent years i.e., during the post -green revolution period.
