Megaprojects in Socioeconomic Development and Accomplishment of Geostrategic Objectives in the Far East
Based on socioeconomic monitoring, the influence of construction of hydroelectric power plants on the development of the regions in which they are located is shown. The public has mixed feelings about the effect of construction of large energy facilities on the economy, the standard of living, and social conditions. The conclusion is drawn that such megaprojects largely accomplish corporate objectives and do not support the achievement of Russia's strategic goals in the Far East.
