Monte Carlo Simulation and Experimental Research on the Characteristics of X-Ray Source for Calibration

On-site calibration technology is an important technical means for calibration of fixed gamma dose instruments in large nuclear facilities. The two key factors that affect the calibration effect are: the calibration source and the agreed true value. This paper studies the characteristics of the original spectrum and filter spectrum of the X-ray calibration source. It is found that the average energy of X-rays increases with the increase of tube voltage, and after filtered by 2mmAl, 50μmPb and 50μmW filter materials, the energy peaks are generally moving towards the high-energy region. The relationship of the average energy value is E(50μmW)>E(50μmPb)>E(2mmAl)>E(original spectrum), and the resolution of the energy spectrum under the same tube voltage is R(50μmW)
