Multsim: a model for simulating vehicular traffic on multi-lane arterial roads

The MULTSIM model was designed as a tool to investigate the effects of changes in the travel environment on the flow of traffic. The package performs a micro-simulation of traffic in which individual drivers are provided with objectives and constraints. The vehicles are then released down the road subject to regulations governing their behaviour, and those properties of the traffic flow of interest are collected on a vehicle–by–vehicle basis for later analysis.
