Navigating Through Sustainable Capital Markets : A Systematic Review of ESG and CSR Research in the Era of Fintech and Blockchain

Employing the Web of Science database, we conduct a systematic review of ESG and CSR research in the era of Fintech and Blockchain. With the searched terms ‘green bonds’ representing sustainable capital markets, ‘ESG’, ‘CSR’, ‘Fintech’, and ‘Blockchain’; we find the gradually increasing numbers of multiple thousand published on ESG/CSR since the post-2008 financial crisis in the main streams of business finance and economics. For green markets, the keyword ‘green bonds’ has shown a rocketing number with over 2,200 published articles in the last five years. Along with ESG/CSR studies; navigating through sustainable capital markets, the era of Fintech and Blockchain has exhibited great potential from just a few studies in 2015 up to over 3,000 peer-review publications in the Web of Sciences Core Collection. Up to the time this study was implemented, the results extracted from the searched terms show that the very first peer-review publications on ‘Fintech’ and ‘Blockchain’ have appeared in FT50 journals since 2018
