Needs of E-Resources and Online Information to the Faculty Members and Research Scholars of Management Studies in Tamil Nadu Universities : A Case Study

Todays’ Communication technology plays a vital role in the development of society. Huge amounts of data are transmitted within seconds, and Internet access offers unimaginably large amounts of information, data, and interpreted materials. As a powerful and dynamic tool for communication, it is the largest single source of information at the global level. Internet presents a challenge for Library and Information professionals in providing information services. It has many resources that can be harnessed by academics for scholarly work. Use of the Internet is changing research, teaching, and learning. The expansion of available information brings increasing assurance on the source. So, use of the Internet resources by research scholars is an important area of study in today's fastest information environment. Electronic resources play an essential key role to the institution for information and communication needs of academic institutions, since "it makes it possible to access a wide range of information, such as up-to-date research reports, from anywhere in the world. It also enables scholars and academic institutions to disseminate information to wider users/viewers around the globe through having web sites and a way to search them. This paper deals with use of electronic resources by the faculty members in Tamil Nadu, India. From this research reveals that majority of the faculties are very interested to using electronic resources for their research works of new invention in the field of dentistry and to build a new ideas through their projects and presenting papers of their new inventions details International levels in varies field. Majority of the staff members are using on-line journals of ACM Digital Library, DOAJ, Scopus, Emarald, Medler, JGate, Erics, Pearson, Springers, F&T, Science Direct and Wiley
