Highlights• A novel phosphorus-containing pyrazolyl derivate (DPAP) was synthesized and used as highly efficient flame-retardant for EP resin.• The curing EP with only 5.0 wt% of DPAP can pass UL94 V-0 rating and possess LOI value as high as 32.6%.• The curing EP with 10 wt% of DPAP exhibit excellent transparency.• The EP/DPAP composite material possess high fire safety and good toughness to overcome the brittleness of EP
